Jepera located in the north coastal lane of Java island, Indonesia. The north bordering the Java Sea directly. Jepara is often referred to as a carving city. A hero women who fight for equality between men and women born in this city, her name is RA Kartini. RA Kartini fight for the rights of women who was humiliated and not allowed to learn in school, even they were not allowed to leave the house at that time. The position of women in the Java island was lower than men. Thanks to the kindness of RA Kartini, women are valued and can do as well as what the men do today. This is one reason why the city is called a city that has a history. In this city also built a historic building that was built on the rock in 1632 by the Portuguese. The fortress known as the Benteng Portugis (Portuguese fort). Portuguese is a country that is now more familiarly known by the name of Portugal. In the fifteenth century, the Portuguese made big progress in the technology. Portuguese ships were more sophisticated and better than the others. The Portuguese set sail and came to Indonesia to take spices products in Indonesia. Spices become a very valuable in the European continent, especially during the winter to survive. That was the beginning of a history that tells the relationship between the Portuguese and Jepara. At that time, Jepara is a main harbour in Mataram. The goals of development Portuguese Fort at that time were as traffic for shipping spices product into Jepara and military interests. Based on official records Jepara tourism, north side length is 20.3 meters, the south side is 28.5 meters, the West side is 37 meters, and the east side is 33.5 meters. While the height of the fort is about 30 meters. Building walls are very sturdy as showing that the knowledge of the building is already well advanced at that time.
Portuguese fort located in the village of Banyumanis, district of Donorojo (within 45 kilometers in northeast of the Jepara city). Unfortunately, there is no public transport to reach this place. So the tourists who want to visit this place had to use private vehicles or hire vehicles. Access roads to the top of the fort is passable steep and winding. From the top of the Portuguese fort, visitors can enjoy the view of Java sea vast and seemingly has no end. Portuguese fort also has a panoramic view of the hills, the beach, and the expanse of sedimentary rocks. Cost of admission is very cheap at £ 3000 or USD 0.3.
