Tanjung Tinggi beach is the most famous beach on the island. The Tanjung Tinggi beach is located between two peninsula those are Kelayang and Pendam. Tanjung Tinggi beach has size of 80 hectares. The most interesting from this beach is a large granite stone in the outskirt of beach and hundreds of granite are scattered among the peninsula. Tanjung Tinggi beach has white sand and the waves are small, very comfortable to playing water in the beach. The sea water is very clear. Lodging facilities and food stalls are available complete enough here.
Tanjung Tinggi beach is also known as "Laskar Pelangi" beach. Laskar Pelangi is an adaptation of a phenomenal novel in Indonesia by Andrea Hirata. This film was ranked highest in Indonesian cinema at that time (was watched by 4.6 million people). Laskar pelangi film tells the story of children from poor families who attend a school that is almost dissolved and the building almost collapsed and almost no one who want to school there. This film is inspired by the true story of the author's childhood along with his friends. The film tells the story of a benevolent headmaster, a teacher who is very kind, and 10 children who have the spirit of learning and refer to themselves as Laskar Pelangi (the army of the rainbow). Within the limitations, they remain a passion for school and achievement. Because this film is phenomenal in Indonesia at the time and has a very big role as a promotion for Tanjung Tinggi beach, thus Tanjung Tinggi beach also called by "Laskar Pelangi" beach.
