The beginning of the Boulevard area is a place to small traders selling traditional food from Manado. Sellers sell their trade in a cart that is placed on the outskirt of beach. Today, the area has been transformed into a more modern, equipped with malls and shopping centers along the way. There are 4 malls which are located around the Boulevard area ie Manado Town Square, Boulevard Mall, Bahu Mall and Mega Mall. Boulevard area also has many restaurants, cafes and food stalls that sell a range of typical Indonesian meals like meatballs, Coto Makassar, Lamongan soup, Makassar satay, batagor, dumplings, gado-gado, and fried rice. This area seemed transformed into a culinary center when the evenings because many stalls start to open their shop. Various other snacks are sold in the Boulevard area is tuna fish grilled, banana flavoring, rica-rica, grilled pork (ragey), various processed pork, various processed seafood cooked with herbs typical of Manado (the taste is usually spicy).
