The Mecca Clock is a building form of tower which has a clock on four sides such as Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) in London. The Mecca Clock Royal Tower is the tallest tower around complex of Abraj Al Bait in Saudi Arabia. Construction of Abraj Al Bait complex is started in 2004 and is opened in 2012. The Abraj Al Bait complex consist of seven towers namely Menara (1972 feet), Hajar Tower (853 feet), Zam-zam tower (853 feet), Maqam tower (820 feet), Qibla tower (820 feet), Marwah tower (787 feet), and Safa tower (787 feet). Six towers becomes apartments and the other one become a hotel (the highest tower). Abraj Al Bait complex is also consist of a five floors of department store, conference room, and the other facilities such as a worship room. Development project spent $ 800 million, the initiator of this mega project is an architect named Dar Al-Handasah along with contractor of Saudi Binladin Group.

The tallest tower in the Abraj Al Bait complex which has an altitude of 1,972 feet becomes the highest tower in Saudi Arabia and the second highest in the world. The Mecca Royal Clock becomes the highest of the clock tower in the world defeat the Big Ben clock tower in London. The Mecca Royal Clock tower also becomes the biggest clock in the world, the diameter of the clock is 46 meters. There are 2 billion LED lamps and 21,000 green and white lights which is equip the Mecca Royal Clock Tower. The lamps are always turn on for five times, the lamps are turn on simultaneously with the call to prayer from a mosque which was across the street of Abraj Al Bait complex. Besides the beauty, the other purpose of the lights is to alert the deaf that the prayer time has come. On any given day, 16 vertical lights will turn on and show the majesty of this building.
Another record was reached by a complex of Abraj Al Bait is the area of the floor, the area was 1.5 million square meters. The floor area is more equivalent than three times the floor area of the international airport in Dubai. The Mecca Royal Clock Tower is also equipped with two lifts which can be used by visitors to reach the top. At the height of the tallest tower there is a crescent moon. The crescent moon is made by a German company in Dubai ie Premiere Composite Technologies. It is made from fiberglass which is coated with gold mozaix. Hotel tower in complex of Abraj Al Bait is managed by a hotel company from Canada that is the Fairmont Hotel and Resort.
