New tourist information today come from a little town which becomes part of province in Indonesia, that is Yogyakarta city. Yogyakarta is one of 33 provinces which is located in Indonesia. Yogyakarta divided into 5 district that are Yogyakarta, Sleman, Bantul, Kulonprogo and Gunungkidul. The most crowded district is Yogyakarta while the most desolate district is Gunungkidul. Gunungkidul is a region which is far from center of Yogyakarta but Gunungkidul has many amazing beautiful tourism. Many people know that the Yogyakarta city only has one volcano is still active and still frequent eruptions, that is Merapi volcano. Apparently, there is another volcanoes in Yogyakarta, name of the volcano is Gunung Api Purba. According to researcher from the local area, this mountain is a volcano that was under the sea, then it is attracted and became a mountain. Land formation process is quite long which is about 60 million years. The highest mountain peak of Gunung Api Purba has a height of 700 meters above sea level. The name of the highest peak is Gede mount.

The name of Gunung Api Purba is taken from Indonesian language, Gunung merapi means volcano while Purba means ancient. The name was inspired by the origins of the formation of this mountain that is a mountain formed by freezing magma. This mountain consist of andesite rock and andesite breccia rock. Due to the location of the mountain is located in the village of Nglanggeran, Pathuk, district of Gunungkidul hence the name of this mountain is often referred to as Nglanggeran mountain. Other facilities that exist in this place is an artificial lake which is often referred to by embung (reservoir) name. Besides as the additional facility for traveler, embung also serves to collect rain water and a source of water for agricultural land in surrounding areas during the dry season.
Now, the existence of this mountain became one of the tourist destinations that want to enjoy the beautiful natural setting. Gunung Api Purba is suitable for beginner climbers. Trails and paths to climb are not steep and signs makes visitors can reach the top easily. The time needed to reach the top of the Gunung Api Purba is approximately 2 hours. Visitors can see the view of Yogyakarta city from above and sunrise or sunset with beautiful natural scenery. The price of admission to area of Gunung Api Purba is IDR 7000 (USD 0.7) for the morning, IDR 9000 (USD 0.9) for the evening, and IDR 12,000 ($ 1) for foreign nationals. The best access option to this location is on a motorbike or a private car.
