Location of Fuji mountain or which is more familiarly called as Fujiyama (yama in Japanese means mountain) located in the western part of Tokyo, is the border between Prefecture Shizuoka and Prefecture Yamanashi, is surrounded by three cities namely Gotemba, Fuji-Yoshida, and Fujinomiya, is also surrounded by five lakes. The five lakes that surrounds Fujiyama are Kawaguchi, Yamanaka, Sai, Motosu and Shoji. Fujiyama formed about 10 thousand years ago and reached a height of 3,776 meters above sea level. Fujiyama can be categorized as a hazardous eruption mountain because has ever erupted and caused an earthquake of measuring between 8 to 9 SR. The first eruption of Fujiyama occurred in 781 BC and the last eruption of Fujiyama occurred in 1707. Fujiyama has experienced an eruption 16 times, starting from the first eruption until the last eruption. Fujiyama dimiliki characteristic is symmetrical shapes and snowy peaks. Fujiyama scenery can be seen up to a distance of 100 kilometers from far when the weather is clear.

Fujiyama's natural beauty makes the mountain that became the pride of the Japanese people often becomes an object of art works such as paintings and photographs. Fujiyama also become a tourist destination who has a hobby of mountain climbing and liked the natural scenery. Every year, about 200 thousand people from different of the regions even in the world climb Fujiyama. Approximately 30 percent of the total climbers are foreign tourists. There are four hiking trails in Fujiyama namely Kawaguchi, Subashiri, Gotemba, and Fujinomiya. The most crowded hiking trails are Fujinomiya, while Gotemba is the most desolate hiking trail. Goraikou becomes one of the main goals of climbers, that is the view of the sunrise from the summit. The average time to takes the summit is 5 hours. Commonly Climbers choose to go in the afternoon, spend the night on the mountain, and to the summit in the morning to get Goraikou.

At least, there are about 25 sites in the vicinity of Fujiyama shuch as Oshino Hakkai (hot water), waterfalls shiratori, Kawaguchiko lake, Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha, etc. Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha is the name of a shrine at the foot of Fuji mountain. In the shrine of Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisa, there is an annual festival in the May which is often called the Yabusame festival. Yabusame festival is a show of the samurai of Japan will act with a bow and arrow on horseback. There is an interesting place in Fujiyama slope, that is Shibazakura. Shibazakura is a broad grass field with a carpet of cherry blossoms and has about 80 thousand plant colorful flowers.

There are several ways to reach the Fujiyama using public transportation namely Shinkansen, local train, and highway bus. Distance of Tokyo to Fujiyama is about 150 kilometers, the journey to the Fujiyama can be started from Tokyo station by train. The trip also can be started using a highway bus from Shinjuku station. In Fuji station, traveling to the Fujiyama area is reached using the shuttle bus. Paths climbing Fujiyama have some point stops before reaching the summit (stage). The highest stage which can be reached using the vehicle is the 5th stage. In the 5th Stage, there are several restaurants, souvenir shops, and sellers of Japanese food. Furthermore, the journey to the summit followed on foot.
