The activity of tectonic plates resulting in the lifting of plateau at that time in the extreme weather as high as 3 miles from the ocean surface. The Colorado river eroded the cliff walls of the Grand Canyon over millions of years and eventually form a beautiful landscape, as can be seen now. The Colorado river drains water from seven states, disgorge from the Rocky Mountains to flow towards the southwest as far as 2,300 kilometers through the Mojave and Sonoran desert, and finally empties into the Cortez sea.
